With the summer and the heat kicking in Hyderabad city, one of new restaurants that have taken an early advantage of the market is none other than Drunken Monkey on Juice. An outlet that serves smoothies and other finger foods has opened in Madhapur to provide its customers a healthy variant to the existing soft drinks and Mocktails to keep us cool and fit this summer.
Their ambiance is new, vibrant and lively. An outlet that provides everything for the family, from games to play while waiting for your order to their very own selfie zone where one can take a judgement free selfie in front of all the staff and customers. Their menu was simple to understand offering different combination of fruit juices and smoothies both with fruits and vegetables. I ordered for their Chikoo Magic smoothie, Watermelon Magic smoothie and Last Nite Sin smoothie special. Butter Chicken Rice Bowl, Classic Veg Sandwich and Chicken Nachos as finger foods.
Chikoo Magic: Combination of Chikoo, Dates, Vanilla Ice Cream and nuts. Perfect texture and nice and refreshing. Had a flavor of Chikku with a sweet aftertaste from the dates and a crunch from the grated nuts.
Watermelon Magic: Combination of watermelon, muskmelon, pomegranate and vanilla ice cream topped with nuts. The flavor of watermelon and pomegranate went well. And the pomegranate helped giving the smoothie a nice reddish color which made it visually appealing.
Last Nite Sin: A smoothie special for hangovers. A combination of pineapple, lemon, apple, green grapes and electrolytes. This had a pungent taste of pineapple and green grapes and a mild flavor of the apple and electrolytes. It was refreshing a must have for all.
Butter Chicken Rice Bowl: Visually looked great. This had aromatic basmati rice topped with butter chicken. The butter chicken was tender boneless pieces cooked in spicy tomato puree. This tasted perfect as I could get the heat and spice from the chicken and the rice helped cool down the spice
Classic Veg Sandwich: A pan fried sandwich with cucumber, tomatoes, cheese and mashed potatoes with Indian spices served with Ketchup. Visually this looked good. On tasting the same, the potatoes and veggies were cooked perfectly and seasoned. I felt that there salt was overpowering a bit.
Chicken Nachos: Spicy shop purchased Nachos served with homemade chicken dipping sauce with slices of cucumber. The dipping sauce is a combination of chopped chicken, coriander, onions, spicy mayonnaise and mustard.
Before I give my final review here is some food for thought –
- The management can apply some coriander as garnish on the rice bowl so as to give a finesse to the dish
- This place is opened newly and management should ensure that they add more finger food to the menu
I was overall happy with they had to offer and I was definitely high on the smoothies. If the management looks into the above development areas then Drunken Monkey is definitely a new kid on the block. So my final rating is as follows:
Quality of Food: 3.8/5
Value for Money: 3.8/5
Overall Rating: 3.9/5
